European Championships 2007/9. Changes once again to the European competition, with teams drawn into ten qualifying groups for the 2007-2009 campaign. The ten winners and the four best second placed sides will play off for the seven places in the finals, which will take place in Sweden. Spain were paired with Russia, Poland, Georgia and Kazakhstan, with sides to play home and away between 2nd June 2007 and 10th September 2008, and the play-offs in mid October 2008. There has been an important change to the under 21 European competition for the 2006/2007 campaign, with the qualifying tournament now being played separately rather than in groups mirroring the full international squad. Spain have been drawn in Group B against Slovakia and Albania, with matches to take place at the beginning of September (see group table). The 14 group winners will enter a head-to-head play off stage, with seven sides joining Holland in the finals in the summer of 2007. edition of the European championship next month. Fixtures mirror the full
international side's games in their qualifying group for the World Cup, with
