Spain's under 21 side moved
a step close to qualifying for the European finals after beating Serbia
Montenegro 2-0. It wasn't all easy going though, and only some first class
saves from Moyà kept the scores level early on. But the visitors were
left with ten men when Todorovic was shown a second yellow card with just over
half an hour gone, and Gabi and Llorente could both have scored before half
time had Stojkovic not been at his best.
With a man extra,
Iñaki Sáez decided to bring on Kepa to accompany Llorente up
front, and twenty minutes into the second half the pressure paid off when
Iniesta won himself a penalty and drove the spot kick past Stojkovic. And a few
minutes later the Barcelona midfielder got his second of the night to wrap
things up. The second goal also gave Spain a head-to-head advantage over their
opponents, and a good result in Belgium next month should see them finish in
the top two to secure a place in the elite round. |
