An amazing start for Spain's new under 21 squad, a 2-7 drubbing of Georgia in their own country sending a message to the rest that La Roja have plenty of talent still to come. Based largely on this summer's under 19 and under 20 squads, Luis Milla's team took the lead in the second minute when Isco finished off after Rodrigo played the ball across. The two changed roles for Rodrigo to score the second, and with twenty minutes gone Isco controlled a long ball from Canales with his first touch and lobbed Makaridze with his second. Rodrigo added two more in two minutes to complete a hat-trick, the first a shot after collecting Oriol's pass, and the second a header from a Planas cross. And with seven minutes to go to half time, Canales completed the set with a well struck free kick. After the restart Iñigo Martínez put through his own net, trying to control a long clearance from the keeper, but Marc Bartra made it seven from a Canales corner, and Canales himself hit the post minutes later. De Gea did have a save or two to make late on as Spain slowed the game down, and Kvekveskiri beat him late on with a long shot in off the bar. But this team are looking as good as their predecessors, and who knows how many they well get when the two teams meet again in Lugo in four days' time.
