Spain's youngsters ran out
easy winners against the East Europeans in this friendly fixture, even though
the scoreline suggested differently. The only goal of the game came in the
first half from Sevilla's Reyes, who turned in a cross from Real Madrid's
Miñambres. Earlier in the half his strike partner Fernando Torres hit
the post, and Reyes himself had a good effort saved by keeper Balog. Hungary's
only reply was an effort from Nemeth near half time which Reina saved without
too much problem.
With a European qualifier
coming up next month, the match served as a testing ground for the new crop of
youngsters, and the two joint-managers who have taken over from Iñaki
Saéz, Juan Santiesteban and López Ufarte, made several changes in
the second half. Hungary ended the game with ten men after substitute Toghelle
was sent off for a hard tackle on Dani Tortolero only minutes after coming on.
Even so Spain were unable to capitalise on their numerical superiority, and the
game came to an end at walking pace. |
