Segovia. Spain's under 21
and under 20 squads warmed up for their forthcoming commitments with a training
match between the two sides, the older boys running out winners in the end by
2-1.
All three goals came in the
second half, with Sergio García picking up a pass from Antonio Puerta to
start things off. Jonathan Soriano (who, together with Zapater, played a half
for each side), scored the second, with his Espanyol team-mate Robusté
heading one back for the juniors near the end.
It could have been a bigger
scoreline though if Ribas had not saved an Iniesta penalty in the first half
after Llorente was fouled in the area.
The under 21s go on to play
Serbia Montenegro next Tuesday in their European championship qualifying group
tie, and the under 20s return home after a match which helped managers
Iñaki Saez and Juan Santiesteban prepare for the youth world cup, which
takes place in Holland this summer. |
