Spain's under 21 side
virtually ensured themselves a place in the European championship play-offs
after a convincing 5-0 win over Kazakhstan. Jurado opened the scoring in the
tenth minute after good work by Bojan down the right wing, and Diego Capel made
it two a few minutes later after picking up a pass from Mata.
And by half time they had
two more, Mata setting up Bojan for him to score a with a spectacular overhead
kick, and then getting the fourth himself after intercepting a poor clearance
from Shabanov.
Iñaki Saez decided to
change his front two at the break, giving a run out to debutants Kike Sola and
José María Callejón, a late call up due to the injury to
Granero. And Callejón completed the rout, beating the keeper at the
second attempt from Capel's cross later in the second half.
Roberto did have one save to
make from Borovskiy, but the youngsters could have got more, Shabanov saving
from Capel and Sisi and Callejón and Piqué putting late chances
over the top.
Spain have won all five of
their games with a 15-0 aggregate, and only Russia now stand in the way of them
and first place in the group. |
