Spain's new under-21 side
defeated Yugoslavia in the Spanish enclave of Ceuta on Tuesday night.
Iñaki Saéz finally managed to put out a side with Reyes joining
Fernando Torres in attack after the Sevilla striker missed his first two
call-ups through injury. However Dani was unavailable after limping off in the
Betis match at the weekend, and the manager took the opportunity to call up
Real Madrid's Portillo for his first ever international appearance. Spain
opened the scoring early on after Albiol put Fernando Torres through in the
penalty area, the Atlético striker pulling the ball across for Reyes to
head down past Poleksic. Seven minutes later Torres made it two, turning in a
cross from Raúl Bravo, who was playing further forward than his usual
position at Real Madrid. Yugoslavia got one back ten minutes before the break
when Jokic headed home a corner, but that was the end of the scoring and the
two managers used the second half to try out new players. |
