Under 21 championship

Spain's under 21 side finished second in their group of four in their European championship in Slovakia. After drawing 1-1 with the Czech Republic, they drew 0-0 with Croatia and then beat Holland 1-0 with an early goal from Angulo. They now play off for third place with Slovakia, but more importantly have qualified for the Olympic Games in Sydney. With the competition starting in mid-September, teams are going to be without their young stars for two or three weeks.
