Day Fourteen
Salamanca opened up a four
point gap at the top with a good 0-2 away win against promotion rivals
Las Palmas. Extremadura stayed second, despite losing 1-0 to Sporting,
who seem to have put their financial problems behind them. Ledhiakov
scored the only goal, and Sporting moved ahead of Albacete on goal
average into fifth place. Levante caught up with Las Palmas in third
place with a 0-1 victory at bottom club Toledo, Salillas scoring his
eleventh goal of the season. He keeps the Pichichi spot, one ahead of
Villarreal's Moisés, who also scored, this time a penalty, in
his club's 1-1 draw at Mérida. Apart from Toledo, five of the
bottom six teams won, with Atlético B recording their first
victory under returning manager Zambranos.
Day Fifteen
Salamanca moved into a six
point lead at the top as their closest rivals all failed to win. Three
goals early in the second half, including two from Silvani, gave them
a comfortable 3-0 victory over Logroñes. Extremadura threw away
their lead in the sixth minute of injury time, Fran equalising for
Lleida after Duré had given the home side the lead in the first
half. Extremadura manager Ortuondo was shown the red card after
protesting the equalising goal a little too strongly. With Las Palmas
drawing at Albacete, Levante took advantage to move up to the third
promotion spot with a good 3-1 win against Mérida. Sporting
Gijon and Tenerife both kept up their recent winning runs, and home
victories by both moves them up to fifth and sixth places. Tenerife's
3-0 victory against Toledo condemns the away team to last position,
and with a gap of six points between them and a group of four teams
(Logroñes, Atlético B, Leganés and Recreativo),
they already look doomed.
