The lead changed twice over the
weekend in the second division, with Salamanca leapfrogging over
Extremadura on Saturday after beating bottom club Leganés 1-2
with goals from Mielkarski and Sandro, and then Las Palmas taking the
lead after winning their Sunday lunchtime fixture with Córdoba
by 1-2, scorers Olias and Soria (own goal). Las Palmas now have 22
points, with Salamanca and Extremadura (who drew at 4th place Levante)
one point behind on 21. These three are already taking control of the
three promotion slots, and have opened up a four point gap over
Albacete, who move up to 4th after winning at Atlético B by a
singlr goal. Levante, Badajoz and Osasuna are tied in fifth place on
16 points, followed by Tenerife on 15, Eibar, Mérida and
Compostela on 14, Villarreal and Sporting 13, Córdoba and
Recreativo on 12 and Logroñes, Lleida and Elche on 11. The four
relgation spots are occupied by four teams based in Madrid and
surrounding areas. Atlético B have 8 points, Getafe 7, Toledo 6
and Leganés 4. Toledo's manager Portugal became the fourth
manager to be sacked in the second division this season. He will be
replaced for the time being at least by their second trainer, Pepe Gálvez.
