European U-19
Championship
Spain 4 - Macedonia
0
Spain had no trouble
qualifying for the final phase of this year's under-19 European championship
with a comfortable victory over Macedonia. Coming in to the game with a 1-3
lead from the first away leg, Iñaki Sáez put out a twin strike
force of Reyes and Fernando Torres, who were playing together for the first
time at this level having already led the attack for the more senior under 21
side. Torres was actually making his debut for the under 19s, and he showed his
class with two goals in a minute in the second half. Team captain Jarque had
already given them the lead before the break, and Jonan got a fourth with his
first touch after coming on as substitute. The final stage will take place in
Norway in late July. (22.05.02) |
