A bit
of a funny week, with a low number of goals but so evenly spread that there
were only three keepers unbeaten. It goes without saying that one of those was
Santiago Cañizares, and after keeping a clean sheet for his country
midweek he repeated the act on Saturday. Molina moves back level with Casillas
and Mora in the chasing group after stopping Espanyol from scoring, and
Lafuente kept his goals against figure at zero this week in the local derby
against Alavés. Deportivo have an excess of keepers, with three
internationals, Molina, Songo'o and Korba on their books, and as if that was
not enough they have a fourth goalminder, Nuno, out on loan to Osasuna. He put
in a magnificent display at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday to earn his side
a draw, and to do Deportivo a favour at the same time. Two old warhorses were
brought back into service this week, with Dutruel back in Barcelona's line up
after manager Serra Ferrer was replaced by caretaker Rexach, and Mono Burgos
taking over from the injured Leo Franco at Mallorca, his first competitive game
in Spain for almost 18 months. Raúl kept his place in Numancia's goal to
the detriment of Nuñez. (30.04.01) |
