Yet
another bad week for keepers as the league hots up, with only four clean sheets
amonst the twenty who played. Casillas was one of them, and he narrows the gap
with Cañizares down to five after Valencia were surprisingly beaten at
home by Alavés. Casillas had little to do as his team ran in four
against López Vallejo and his boys, the third time in a row that the
Villarreal keeper has let in as many. Rather messes up his statistics somewhat.
Mora kept out Bilbao's strikers at the San Mames stadium and he moves level
with Molina and Leo Franco, who both let in one. Other clean sheets for
Bizzarri and Ceballos, both of whom had it easy, the former as he was up
against Oviedo and the latter as Celta were down to nine men by half time. The
only regular first choice keeper not to play this week was Osasuna's Nuno, who
is on loan from Deportivo and was not allowed to take the field against his
original employer under the terms of his contract. Sanzol came in for him and
had a blinder, only being beaten by a couple of lucky headers about which he
could do little. Strangely nobody had to face a penalty kick in the entire
first division this week, which must be something of a record.
