Remember two weeks ago? Málaga's Rafa came in for
his first game of the season and dropped the ball in his own net, blaming it on
the sun in his eyes. Well this week he was back, and lo and behold he did it
again! Substituting the suspended Contreras, he faced up in the same goalmouth
to a Jarni free kick wide on the right, expecting a cross. But the Croatian is
a wily old bird, and he struck it straight at the goal catching the poor keeper
completely unprepared, and as they say here, he swallowed it. Or rather he
didn't, as at least that would have prevented the ball going through his hands
and in to the net. Luckily for him his team came back this time to win the
match, but Ceballos is likely to win his place back next week. Other than that,
not a good week for keepers, with only two clean sheets amongst the twenty of
them. Barça's young keeper Reina was one of them, his fourth in six
weeks, (he did let in seven in the other two matches though). Having only
played 12 games he is not eligible for our table, but with a +4 average he
could come in in a few weeks or so. The other clean sheet was by Bizzarri, his
fourth in five weeks, and he does enter the table, also with +4, after
completing 15 games since taking over from Ricardo. Cañizares continues
to set new records, and he has still not let in more than two goals in any
league game to date. Camacho has finally taken note, and has called him back to
Spain's squad for their midweek game with England, although Casillas is still
expected to be number one. (26.02.01) |
