If
it's a bad week for Pichichi's it's a good one for keepers, and with two or
three exceptions it was extremely good, with ten clean sheets in eleven
matches, including two for Casillas both in the midweek game postponed from day
12 against Zaragoza and on Sunday against Valencia. He moves up to third in our
table, still three behind Molina and seven from our leader, his opposite number
on Sunday Santiago Cañizares. The Valencia keeper has only let in
fourteen, although the two goals scored against him last weekend and this meant
defeats for his side, who were unable to get a goal at the other end. Two
keepers not in our charts saved penalties and kept clean sheets, Bizzarri for
Valladolid and Cavallero for Celta, and Herrera faced a spot kick but pulled a
face and Oulare shot wide. He too kept a clean sheet, as did Mora, López
Vallejo and Contreras of the goalminders in our chart, and Reina who is not.
Nuñez drops out of our table after letting in three and he is replaced
by Ceballos, who didn't play but may well do next week after Lemmens let in
four more. Spare a thought though for Juanmi. He was right up there in third
place before this week began, but let in no less than eight goals in two games
on Wednesday and Saturday. Ever had one of those weeks when you wish you never
got out of bed? (29.01.01) |
