Cristiano Ronaldo, what on
Earth are you doing? The Real Madrid forward ruled himself out of next
weekend's big match at Valencia by "winning" himself two yellow cards late in
the game against Almería, the first for taking off his shirt after
scoring a goal, and the second for kicking Juanma Ortíz in retaliation
for a foul.
Ronaldo was one of seven
players to get his marching orders this weekend, two more of which were for
Villarreal's Cani and Angel, the former rather harshly after he fell in to
Casquero in the area (it appears the Getafe player pushed him in the first
place), and the latter for a second bookable offence in injury time.
Two red cards as well in the
match between Xerez and Atlético Madrid, the first for local midfielder
Keita, who picked up a second yellow card for comments to the fourth official
just after he left the field, and the second for Domínguez, also for a
second caution. Keita could end up with a bigger ban after the threw a wobbly
at the referee following the red card.
Elsewhere Valladolid's Borja
was sent off at Sevilla on Saturday for a foul on Perotti shortly before half
time. And on Sunday Athletic Bilbao's Koikili was shown two yellow cards late
in the match against Valencia, and Tenerife coach Oltra was red-carded for
protesting. All face a one match ban, together with Soldado (Getafe), Serrano
(Racing), Luis Fabiano (Sevilla) and Abel Aguilar (Zaragoza), who picked up
their fifth bookings of the season at the weekend. (08.12.09) |
