Villains

Only two red cards for outfield players this weekend, including one for Numancia's Gorka Brit after the ball hit him on the arm late on in the game at Getafe. Soldado missed the resulting penalty, although Getafe won it anyway to send their opponents down. The second red card was for a late tackle by Barcelona's promising 17 year old defender Muniesa, who Pep Guardiola gave a debut run out to late on in the match against Osasuna. Guardiola was so upset at referee Rubinos Pérez that he got himself red-carded as well, with the club's medical assistant following him down the tunnel a couple of minutes later.

No less than 14 more players will miss the last weekend for accumulation of yellow cards, the most important being Betis defender Arzu who will miss the relegation clash with Valladolid after picking up his tenth booking, and Atlético's Simao, who won't be able to help his side defend fourth spot. Málaga will be missing three players, Jesús Gámez (10 yellows) and Luque and Baha (five), and nine more players reached the five caution mark, including Koikili (Athletic), Abidal (Barcelona), Iván Alonso (Espanyol), Palacios (Numancia), Zigic (Racing), Javi García (Real Madrid), Casado (Recreativo), Mata (Valencia) and Guille Franco (Villarreal).
