Eight red cards this
weekend, including two for coaching staff. Celta's Fernando Vázquez got
himself sent off for the third time this season, this time after picking up two
yellow cards for arguing, and Osasuna's trainer Ambriz was also shown red for
insulting the officials. Málaga's Fernando Sanz was also reported by
referee Ayza Gámez for serious insults after the match against Racing
Santander ended with a defeat which left the Andalusians in the second
division, and although he wasn't strictly shown a red card he will have to
serve out a one match ban.
Some famous names in the
remaining five, including Real Madrid keeper Iker Casillas, who was given a
second booking for kicking the ball away late in the game at Osasuna. Real
Sociedad had two players sent off with straight red cards against Sevilla,
López Rekarte for stopping the ball from entering the net with his upper
arm and Nihat for a vicious tackle on Antonio Puerta. Elsewhere Deportivo's
Coloccini was given his marching orders after picking up a second yellow card
for a two footed tackle on an opponent in the local derby against Celta, and
Espanyol's Jarque had to go after a second booking late on against Zaragoza.
All of the above will have
to serve out a one match ban, as will six other players who completed the next
cycle of five yellow cards. Deportivo's Duscher was the second player after
Albelda to reach the 15 booking mark, and he moves into top spot in our chart.
Fernando Navarro (Mallorca) and Arruabarrena (Villarreal) both picked up their
tenth caution, and Placente (Celta) and Bovio (Málaga) both received
their fifth. (02.05.06) |
