Four red cards this weekend,
including a straight one for Deportivo's Coloccini, who had only just come back
after being sent off in his last appearance in the cup semi-final. The
disciplinary committee were not happy bunnies at all, and gave him a two match
ban. Cádiz striker Alexander Medina was sent off for a second bookable
offence when he kicked the ball away from Osasuna keeper Ricardo whilst he was
bouncing it on the ground. It was a controversial decision (see also white
stick section), and the card was overturned on appeal. Medina still misses the
next game though as the first booking was his fifth of the season.
Double yellow cards as well
for Racing's Moratón late in the game against Athletic Bilbao, and for
Mallorca's Tuzzio at Málaga, also late on. The Balearic Islanders will
be short staffed next weekend after Potenza and Pereyra also picked up their
fifth bookings of the season in the same match. Elsewhere five more players
reached the five booking threshold, including Amorebieta and Luis Prieto
(Athletic), Ibagaza (Atlético), Javier Flaño (Osasuna) and Josico
(Villarreal). (21.02.06) |
