A well behaved weekend, the
43 yellow cards and two reds the lowest tally of the season to date. One of the
red cards was for Getafe manager Bernd Schuster, who said he didn't know why he
had been sent off as he didn't do anything. The referee's report though said it
was for repeated protests, and that he had been advised by the referee himself,
the fourth official, a nearby policeman, the minister for internal affairs,
George Bush and the United Nations (alright, we made that last bit up).
Mallorca's Pereyra was the only player to be given his marching orders, the
young Argentinian midfielder picking up two bookings in the first half of the
match at Cádiz. He will be joined on the sidelines in a fortnight's time
by four players who reached the five yellow card threshold, Orbaiz (Athletic
Bilbao), Duscher (Deportivo), Puñal (Osasuna) and Toledo (Zaragoza).

P.S. In the end Toledo was
not suspended as a previous sending off for two bookable offences is still on
hold awaiting appeal. |
