Such
a quiet week this week that we were toying with the idea of publishing the
words to 'All things bright and beautiful' instead of our report. A record low
in number of cards, with only one player sent off, and that was probably a
harsh decision. Tamudo got his marching orders for the second time this season
after a high tackle on Ballesteros, himself one of our villains returning to
our leader table below. True anyone who wants to take an impression of the sole
of Tamudo's boot only has to take a plaster cast of the stud marks on the Rayo
defender's leg, but even then yellow cards have been shown for worse. The
disciplinary committee temporarily suspended the three match ban on
Valladolid's Jesús after he had missed one game, and there was some
jockeying for position in the villains' table, with Paqui moving up level with
his Las Palmas team mate Samways in third place. Las Palmas players have
received six of the 32 direct red cards shown to date, and with Ramón
and Angel likely to be suspended next week after picking up their fifth yellow
cards of the season, no less than 12 of their players have been banned for one
game or more. Bilbao's Larrainzar and Etxeberria picked up their fifth yellow
cards of the season, and Keita. Téllez, De Quintana and Djalminha were
the only leading villains who picked up cautions in the last round of matches,
Djalminha's for diving in the penalty area after once again arguing with most
of the Real Madrid team at half time. But really though, most of the bad boys
were 'angelitos' this week. All together now, '..... all creatures great and
small .....' (26.02.01) |
