Villains
It was a qiuet week for sendings off, but the disciplinary committee is going to have a busy week in any case as no less than six players reach the five yellow card limit and will most likely be suspended. The only two red cards of the day were both for the same team, Celta, with one of last season's favourites, Juanfran showing he is back to his best with two yellows in fourteen minutes for tripping opponents. He was upstaged later on though by his young teammate Edu, who got two yellows in only nine minutes, the second rather stupidly for kicking the ball up in to the stands to waste time. With only nine men on the park, Racing Santander equalised, and club president Horacio Gómez threatened punitive action against his players. With seven men injured and Giovanella also probably missing from next week's derby against Deportivo after picking up his fifth yellow, manager Víctor Fernández will have trouble putting together a team. Another old warhorse, Vinny Samways proved he can do in the first division what he did so well in the second, get booked. He reached the five card milestone, as did Urrutia, Onopko, José Ignacio and Amor. The fifth booking for Amor rounded off a lousy day, as he also scored an own goal to give Real Madrid the victory. And that coming from an ex Barcelona player to boot! (20.11.00)
