One
of the lowest scoring weeks of the season, with only 24 goals in the league and
no midweek European matches to boost the figures. Only one player scored more
than one goal, Mallorca's Luque, who got a brace to take him up to nine goals
in all competitions. Four players got their first of the season including
Turdó, who was starting to get desperate four months after joining Las
Palmas, Numancia's Nagore and Oviedo's Juanchi González and Paunovic.
González was particularly unlucky though, scoring on his first start of
the season and then picking up a serious knee injury (possibly cruciate
ligament) which will keep him out for several months. Of our top scorers, only
four increased their tally, with Jamelli coming in to the table for the first
time after scoring for the fourth week in a row. Raúl overtook Rivaldo
in the league with his twentieth goal, although some press agencies give him
one less as a goal which was attributed to him by a match referee earlier in
the season was actually scored by Figo. Our chart though reflects the offically
recognised total. Raúl is now only four behind Rivaldo in all
competitions. Juan Sánchez got his fifteenth of the season to give his
team an important victory, and Darío Silva and Bolo both earned their
sides a point with their goals. Once again only one penalty was awarded in the
first division this week, and Figo missed it. (30.04.01) |
