A
quiet week for strikers, with only 19 goals in the league and no midweek club
matches. Even so several of the top goalscorers got on the scoresheets, with a
pair each for Raúl and Rivaldo in the big match of the weekend between
Real Madrid and Barcelona. Rivaldo moves five ahead of Javi Moreno, with
Raúl now only a goal behind the Alavés striker, both in all
competitions and in the league. A Catanha header in the second half against
Oviedo gave his team three points and takes him up to fifteen for all
competitions, a perfect answer to Camacho who left him out of the Spanish squad
midweek. Makaay only needed a few minutes in the second half of Deportivo's
match against Mallorca to get his thirteenth of the season, although it didn't
help much as he team fell to defeat. Mendieta's sixth goal from the penalty
spot earned his team a point at Zaragoza, and Málaga's Darío
Silva joined his teammate Dely Valdés in our chart after getting both
goals against high riding Villarreal to take the three points .
