The
top three Pichichis opened up a bit of a gap on the rest this week. Rivaldo
came on as a second half substitute in the mud at Torrelavega to score the only
goal in Barcelona's third round cup tie midweek, and added the third in injury
time in Saturday's league match. He now has 21 goals, three ahead of Javi
Moreno, who scored two in the last eight minutes against Mallorca.
Unfortunately it was not enough as his side still lost 4-3. Kluivert added
another in the league, and he and Rivaldo have now scored eight between them in
the last three games. Real Madrid got four, but none for their top scorers.
Figo did however get his seventh of the season after being presented with the
balon de oro by UEFA, and McManaman scored a blinder at the end. Pandiani
caught up with teammate Diego Tristán with his eighth goal in all
competitions after coming on as substitute and scoring the winner against
leaders Valencia. They have both lost the sole striker's spot at Deportivo
though to Roy Makaay, who has scored seven since returning from a long injury
only a few weeks ago. Irureta is spoilt for choice. (15.01.01) |
