Moreno caught up on Rivaldo this week with two goals against league champions
Deportivo, including a penalty. Bolic scored his third in three league games in
a row to move ahead of his teammate Michel to third, and Catanha kept up his
recent good form with his tenth of the season. The first round of the Spanish
cup took place midweek, and with first division teams seeded to play away
against lower division opposition, it should have been an opportunity for the
strikers to make some headway. Surprisingly perhaps, only two of our Pichichis,
Diego Tristán and Víctor, got on the scoresheet, although several
of the top names including Raúl, Rivaldo and Mendieta were rested by
their managers. One new name in our chart this week, Valencia's John Carew
comes in after a recent string of important goals for his team.
