A
record number of goals this week with 34 scored in the ten first division
matches plus 11 in Europe. Rivaldo moved further ahead with three goals,
although two were from the penalty spot (the only two scored in the week in all
competitions). Javi Moreno consolidated second position with a goal midweek in
the UEFA only seconds after coming on as substitute, and another at the
weekend, and Bolic also got a couple during the week to move level with his
team mate Michel on eleven goals. Neither Raúl nor Guti (who was
injured) scored any of Real Madrid's seven in their two games, but Roberto
Carlos got a free kick in each to enter the table with seven, the highest
scoring defender in the league. The only other of our Pichichis to score this
week was Juan Sánchez, who got his first in the league for eight games.
Doubles though for several other players in the league, including
Málaga's Darío Silva who got his first just 8 seconds after
Valladolid kicked off, which must be a record! (11.12.00) |
