Real
Madrid's Guti is the man of the moment. Last season his only appearance in our
heroes and villains feature was on the wrong side of the fence, as the man who
picked up most bookings. This year, with Morientes and Raúl injured for
some time, his manager has been playing him further forward than his usual
midfield position, and he has been scoring goals. Two more this week, one in
Europe and one in the league, takes him to the top of our table, level with
Rivaldo, whose injury time strike in the Champions League could be worth it's
weight in gold if Barcelona qualify for the next stage. The only other
goalscorer to add to his tally this week was Javi Moreno, who got the winner
for Alavés against Rayo Vallecano, then missed a penalty into the
bargain. Just for the record, Rayo's Michel also missed a penalty, but in their
Thursday night UEFA cup match against Viborg. (29.10.00) |
