Confirmation that (for the first time since the new system was introduced) all four of the regional group champions have been promoted to the second division this season after Albacete and Barcelona B both won their respective final ties. The two teams had won their away legs, but the return matches on Sunday ended without a single goal between them. Albacete drew 0-0 against Valencia Mestalla go back up just one year after being relegated, although with a 0-1 scoreline from the first leg, the result was in doubt right up to the end. Local keeper Tomeu Nadal had to make some important saves late on, in particular from Rafa Mir, but the Ches’ challenge ended when Jordi was sent off for a second bookable offence in injury time. Barcelona B though were all but mathematically sure of their place after a 1-4 victory at Racing Santander a week ago, and although Suárez did have to save from Gándara in the second half, his opposite number Iván Crespo had a lot more work to do to keep out Romera, Alfaro and Abel Ruíz. It was another disappointment though for the Cantabrians, who missed out once again after failing to go up as group champions last season. (25.06.17)
