This year’s play-off final is between Tenerife and Getafe, the Canary Islanders having a slight edge after a 1-0 victory in the first leg. The locals had the better of the first half, Amath, Jorge and Lozano all failing to convert chances before Jorge got on the end of a Shibasaki corner to head the opener. Lozano and Shibasaki went close either side of half time, and Getafe’s only reply was from a couple of efforts by Molina and Chuli later on which failed to find the mark. Only one goal separates the two teams however, and the outcome about who joins Levante and Girona in the top flight will only be known after Saturday evening’s return leg.
