Athletic Bilbao are now two points below the European spots after they drew 0-0 at Espanyol on Sunday evening. Valverde made no less than seven changes from the side which won against Genk on Thursday night, and they paid the price, the Catalans having by far the better chances in the first half. However Leo Baptistao, Hernán Pérez and Gerard Moreno all failed to find the target, and Kepa was only tested by a shot from Piatti shortly before the break. After the restart Aduríz and Eraso fired shots over the top, Moreno headed a late chance at the keeper, and substitute Caicedo caused a few problems for the visiting defence. In the end though both teams settled for a point, and the Espanyol fans still haven’t seen their team win at home this season.
