Sevilla Atlético and Cádiz will be joining Reus and UCAM Murcia in the second division after both won through their play-off finals on Sunday! The Sevilla B team did it the hard way though, their tie against Lleida Esportiu going to a penalty shoot out after the Catalans fought back to win 0-1 in their morning kick-off second leg. The only goal was scored by Carlos Rodríguez in the first minute of the second half, and only a great save by José Antonio Caro prevented Colinas from winning it later on. The local keeper proved decisive in the shoot-out though, saving one of the spot kicks and then converting the last one himself to take his side through 5-4 in the shoot out.
As it happens, three of the four promoted teams are from regional group IV, Cádiz returning to the big time after a six year absence following a 0-1 victory at Hércules. The Andalusians were already a goal up from the first leg, and with twenty minutes gone veteran striker Dani Güiza took advantage of a slip by defender Alex Muñoz to open the scoring. Javi Flores had hit the crossbar for the Alicante based team before that, but the visitors shut up shop after their goal to ensure the win. Curiously it was the first time since the play-offs were modified in 2009 that a team finishing fourth in their group was promoted, but after missing out as group champions last season, Alvaro Cervera’s side have taken the long route this time around.
