Valencia moved to within six points of seventh placed Sevilla after a 4-0 win over Eibar on Wednesday evening. Paco Alcácer helped himself to a first half hat-trick, the first coming in the tenth minute after he was brought down in the area by Dani García, the striker knocking in the rebound after Riesgo had saved his penalty kick. A quarter of an hour later Alcácer made it two after Cancelo laid the ball back, and with half time approaching he headed in the third from Rodrigo’s cross. After the break André Gomes hit the bar, and some ten minutes in to the second half Rodrigo and Cancelo combined again for the full back to score his side’s fourth. Escalante did go close for the visitors after that, but Dani Parejo could have added a fifth had Riesgo not kept him out late on.
