Betis clocked up their first victory since their return to the top flight, the Andalusians beating Real Sociedad 1-0 in the last game of Saturday evening despite playing over half the match with ten men. Pepe Mel’s side had the better of the first half, Petros, Molina and Joaquín going close before Rubén Castro got behind his marker to head Joaquín’s cross down past Rulli. Petros was sent off for a second bookable offence on the stroke of half time, but even so Castro curled a shot just wide soon after the interval. After that though the visitors took control, Elustondo and Agirretxe in particular failing to find the target, and Adán pulling off a point blank save from Bruma. However David Moyes’ team couldn’t make the break-through despite the extra man, and they end the weekend with just two points from their first three games.
