Levante end the weekend in bottom spot after they were beaten 0-2 by Athletic Bilbao in this Sunday’s mid-day kick-off. Despite having only picked up two points from their last seven matches, the midweek cup victory had given the Basque side renewed confidence, and Muniain hit the bar in an early attack. However the locals took control for the remainder of the first half, Iraizoz having to tip a Simao header over the bar and Morales going close a couple of times. In the first minute of the second half though Diego Mariño just recovered in time to stop the ball on the line after letting an Aduríz shot through his hands, and three minutes later Aduríz fired the visitors into the lead after picking up a centre from De Marcos. With new signing Kalu Uche on the park, Lucas Alcaráz’s side came looking for the equalizer, Casadesús shooting wide and Iraizoz making first class saves from Xumetra and Rubén García. But with a minute to go Aduríz wrapped things up after Susaeta put him through, and the striker could have completed a hat-trick had he been able to beat Mariño with the game in injury time.
