Espanyol beat Getafe on Thursday evening 2-0 to move out of the relegation spots and up to mid-table. Both teams needed points, and after early pressure from the locals, Sarabia and Michel tested Kiko Casilla with long shots either side of half time. The goals though came in the second half, Sergio García volleying home a lofted Salva Sevilla pass, and Stuani getting the second late on, beating Guaita at the second attempt after Lucas Vázquez crossed in from the right. The defeat leaves Getafe in next to bottom spot.
