Osasuna will be playing their football in the second division next season after they were relegated on the last day of the season. Javi Gracía’s team started the day in next to bottom spot, and although they beat the already relegated Betis 2-1, results elsewhere went against them. The Pamplona based side had to win at least, and Cejudo and Riera went close before Oriol Riera put them ahead in the twelfth minute. That however provoked a human avalanche in the crowd after a barrier gave way which delayed the match for over half an hour (luckily without any serious injuries), and the other three synchronized games taking place at the same time were halted at the break to allow them to catch up. When play resumed Acuña made it two almost immediately, turning a shot past Adán after Jordi Figueras blocked a shot from Roberto Torres. That was about it though, and Andrés had to keep out Chica, Sevilla and Reyes before Chica pulled one back with twenty minutes to go. By then though the bad news came in from the other grounds and Osasuna were down, putting an end to a run of 14 years in the top flight.
