Espanyol got the point they needed to save themselves in a 1-1 draw against an Osasuna side who ended the day in next to bottom spot despite the result. Having only picked up one point from their last six games, the Catalans found themselves unexpectedly in the battle to avoid the drop, and they were up against a desperate opponent who started the game knowing that adverse results could already send them to the second division this weekend. With twenty minutes gone though, Andrés could only push out a Javi López cross as far as Sergio García, whose header was cleared off the line by Miguel Flaño. And from the resulting Simao corner, Colotto turned a shot in to the net after Riera could only head the ball back in to his path. The visitors came out looking for the equalizer after that though, Acuña, Torres and Puñal all going close before Acuña got on the end of a long Puñal free kick to level the scores on the stroke of half time. But Aguirre’s men fell back to defend the point after the interval, and Javier Gracia’s team now have to beat Betis in their last game and hope other results go in their favour if they are to stay in the top flight.
