Espanyol put in their claim for a place in Europe next season after beating Granada 1-0 in this week’s Friday night game. Córdoba missed a chance to open the scoring for the locals midway through the first half, but soon afterwards they were left with ten men when Víctor Alvarez was shown a red card for bringing down El-Arabi as he advanced on goal. Even so they were the better side after that, Roberto having to save from Stuani before the break, and from a couple of Hector Moreno headers either side of half time. El-Arabi did come close to an equalizer when he lobbed a shot against the crossbar on the hour mark, but with ten minutes to go Moreno got on the end of a Sergio García corner to head home what was to prove the winner.
