Alavés are the honorary second division B champions after they beat Tenerife 3-2 on aggregate. Two early goals by Aridane, the first after some slack defending let him through, and the second a header from Cristo's corner, cancelled out the two goal lead from the first leg. Later in the first half though Sergio Rodríguez held back Viguera as he advanced in to the area, and the ex Real Sociedad striker made it 2-1 from the penalty spot, his third goal in the tie. That away goal meant that Tenerife had to score two more to turn things around, but the visitors held on despite having Juanma and Manu sent off for second bookable offences with half an hour still to play (Juanma actually got his second yellow card five minutes before the break, but the referee didn't realise until they got back to the dressing room at half time!). A fun match though with little at stake, and both teams will now be busy preparing for their return to the second division next season.
The remaining two final places were decided on Sunday, although both matches were closely fought, with the final outcome only decided on penalties. Huracán were the first to go through, their shoot-out against Athletic Bilbao B ending 4-2 after the match had finished with a 2-1 result in favour of the Valencia based side. An early goal by Fabiani appeared to have put the locals on track for victory, but with six minutes to go to the final whistle Eraso gave the Basque side the advantage with an impressive equaliser. Carreño scrambled a last minute goal though to take the match in to extra time, and although Saborit hit the bar for the visitors, in the end it went to spot kicks. Athletic's Jon García missed the target, and local keeper Paco saved Morán's fifth penalty to give his team a shot at a place in the second division just two years after they were formed.
As Huracán are from the same regional group as L'Hospitalet, their opponents in one of the two finals will be the other group champions Real Jaén, who beat Lleida 4-3 in their shoot-out after a 1-1 draw in both legs (L'Hospitalet will play Eibar). Quesada gave the Andalusians the lead following a corner in the fifth minute of the second half, but the locals wasted several chances after that, and Mata equalised for the Catalans with a quarter of an hour to go taking the game to extra time and then penalties. Mario and Migue Montes both missed their spot kicks, and Toni García saved the last penalty from his opposite number Pau Torres to take the home side through. Jaén last played in the second division ten years ago.
The last remaining relegation place was also decided on Sunday, Constancia going down despite a 1-1 draw at Zamora. The locals built on their 0-1 first leg lead when Miguel Santos beat Gaspar in the seventeenth minute. But Jaime equalised for the Mallorca based side with a quarter of an hour left on the clock, and in the end they fell just one goal short of safety. Celebrations in Zamora, but Constancia have not given up all hope of survival, as many clubs are in financial difficulties and could be relegated in their place if they don't make the upcoming deadline to be up to date with the wages and salaries of their players. L'Hospitalet and Eibar are the first two sides to make it in to the play-off finals after both won through their respective ties on Saturday evening. L'Hospitalet turned around a 1-0 deficit from the first leg with a 2-0 victory over Caudal in their Feixa Larga stadium. The Asturians came close to adding to their lead when Javi Sánchez hit the bar, but five minutes later David Corominas ran on to Pol's through ball to fire a dipping shot over the keeper from right of the area. Aday came close to a second soon after the restart, and a few minutes later Osado fired a low shot past Javi Díaz after a good run. An away goal would still have taken Caudal through, but Craviotto pulled off a couple of important saves, and a frustrated Prosi got himself sent off for a second bookable offence in injury time.
Eibar are in line for a return to the professional leagues for the first time in four years after they beat Oviedo 1-0 in their second leg tie. Two late goals the week before had given the Basque side a 1-2 advantage, and they took the initiative early on, with Capa hitting the bar as they dominated the first half. Carlos Granero's side hardly troubled Irureta in the local goal, and with twelve minutes to go Arruabarrena set up Guille Roldán for him to beat Orlando Quintana and wrap things up. It was a serious blow for the Asturians, who are looking to return to the big time after they were bought out recently by Mexican businessman Carlos Slim, reputedly the richest men in the world.
