A mistake by Valladolid keeper Jaime in the last minute gifted Betis a 0-1 victory in the Monday night match. The game appeared to be heading for a score-less draw when substitute Alex Martínez played a speculative pass in to the box. Jaime appeared to have it covered, but as he dived to the ground he failed to take the ball cleanly, and Rubén Castro was there to roll it in to the empty net. Up to that point honours had been just about shared, with Oscar and Javi Guerra failing to convert chances for the locals before the break, and Agra, Nono and Rubén Castro responding for the visitors. After the restart Casto tipped an Ebert header on to the bar, Jaime did well to keep out Castro, and Bueno and Pereira also tired their luck. But in the end its goals that count, and Betis go home with two more points than they merited thanks to Jaime's fumble.
