Second Division B - play-offs, day 4

Real Madrid Castilla are the convincing second division B champions after beating Mirandés 0-3 in the return leg of the champions' play-offs. The youngsters were already three up from the first leg, and they went further ahead when Morata connected with a Denis cross to beat Nauzet in only the third minute. Top scorer Joselu made it two shortly before half time, and with three minutes to go the local keeper was sent off for giving away a penalty, and Joselu stepped up to complete the scoring from the resulting spot kick.

Ponferradina and Cádiz were the first two sides to reach the play-off finals after winning through their ties on Saturday. Ponferradina were 2-1 down to Lucena from the first leg, but a 3-0 victory on the night saw them through. Yuri opened the scoring for the León based side in the eight minute, and Acorán made it two after good work by Mayor early in the second half. With the game in injury time the Andalusians threw everyone forward, including their keeper Vargas, but Didac wrapped things up after breaking away to score in to an empty net.

Cádiz only go through on a penalty shoot-out though after they drew 0-0 with Albacete for the second time in a week. Candela and Adrià wasted chances for the visitors before the break, but Ikechi should have scored for the locals after the restart, and Dioni hit the post with the game in extra time. Murillo missed a penalty for the Andalusians, but Nuñez and Curto did likewise for the visitors, taking the home team through 4-3 in the end. (09.06.12)

Atlético Baleares are the first of the group champions to be eliminated after they could only draw 0-0 at home to Lugo on Sunday. A 3-1 defeat in Galicia last week meant they had to score twice to have a chance of going through, but visiting keeper Diego Rivas pulled out first class saves from Thiago and Dani before the break, and Jesús Perera headed wide when free on goal midway through the second half. As the only remaining third placed side in the competition, Lugo will play Cádiz in one of the play-off finals, looking to go up for the first time since the 1992-3 season.

Tenerife will play Ponferradina in the other play-off final after beating Linense 3-2. The Canary Islanders came in to the match a goal up from the first leg, and Kike López increased the lead with a goal in the second minute. David Hernández equalised though a quarter of an hour later, and although Víctor Bravo beat Pagola with three minutes to go to the break, Hernández levelled it again two minutes later. Both sides were left with ten men when Bravo and then Francis were sent off, and with two minutes to go the visitors felt they should have had a penalty when a forward was pulled down in the area. A minute later though Kike López scored a third for the locals, and Linense had Hernández and Copi sent off as the angry players lost their heads in the final minutes. (10.06.12)
