Once again Córdoba returned to the play off spots after a 3-3 draw at Alcoyano on Friday evening. The home side were desperately in need of points to help them escape the drop zone, and midway through the first half they went two up, Wellington opening the scoring after a long run, and Gato netting the second with a long shot which keeper Arias let through his hands. Borja García got one back before the break after Fuentes and López Silva combined to set him up, and Fede Vico and Wellington both hit the woodwork before Diego Jiménez got on the end of a David Torres cross to restore the two goal cushion. Paco Jémez turned to Pepe Díaz however, and the striker scored two in the next ten minutes, the first from a free kick and the second with a shot on the turn from Dubarbier's assist. All square in the end, and that was even true in the red card department, with Pina and Tena both getting sent off later on. (27.04.12)
With Deportivo and Valladolid playing each other on Sunday, Celta closed to within two points of second place after a 1-2 victory at Sabadell on Sunday evening. Alex López got on the end of a Iago Aspas cross to put the Galicians ahead on the half hour mark, and although Olmo equalised ten minutes later following a corner, Orellana fired home an impressive winner after Joan Tomás set him up with a quarter of an hour to go. Paco Herrera's side can close the gap further on the leaders on Tuesday when they play out the remaining 30 minutes of their match at Cartagena which was suspended earlier in the season. Hércules hold on to fourth place, although they drop four points behind Celta after they were held to a 0-0 draw by promotion rivals Almería. Keepers Falcón and Esteban put in competent performances to ensure that there was no movement on the scoreboard.
Alcorcón close to within a point of Hércules after they beat Murcia 3-0. Babín turned in a low pass from Paco Montañés to give the locals an early lead, and Borja added a second before Montañés combined with Oriol Riera to round things off later on. Elche are back up to eighth after a 0-1 victory at Barcelona B, the youngsters' first home defeat in ten weeks. Xumetra got the only goal for César Ferrando's side on a quick counter-attack early in the second half, and any chance the locals had of a comeback ended when Sergi Roberto was sent off for a second bookable offence with twenty minutes to go.
Las Palmas kept alive their slim hopes of making it in to the play-off spots after beating Villarreal B 1-4. Portillo opened the scoring for the Canary Islanders on the quarter hour mark, but Moi Gómez equalised for the visitors ten minutes in to the second half. Jonathan Viera restored the lead though soon afterwards, and after Lucas Porcar was sent off for a second yellow card, Sergio Suárez and Randy added two more late on. Las Palmas go a point above Numancia, who lost 2-1 at bottom club Cartagena. Braulio got the opener for the home side with just over thirty minutes on the clock, and Abraham Paz restored the lead just two minutes after Julio Alvarez equalised near the end of the first half.
Cartagena move off last spot pending Nàstic's game tomorrow, but they stay six points behind Girona after the Catalans thrashed Guadalajara 1-4. The hero of the night was Coro, who scored twice in the first half, and completed his hat-trick after the break. Jonan García got one back for the locals in between, but Jandro completed the scoring in injury time to take Javi Salamero's side to within four points of their opponents in the table. Huesca move away from the danger zone though after they beat Xerez 2-1. The locals went two up, Rafa García putting through his own net shortly before the break and Roberto adding the second from the penalty spot after Robusté was sent off. Numbers were evened up though when Corona was also shown the red card, and a Rueda strike for the Andalusians set up a nail-biting finish. (05.05.12)
Honours were shared between the top two on Sunday evening, Deportivo and Valladolid staying in first and second place respectively after a 1-1 draw. The Galicians went ahead with a Guardado penalty after Jaime brought down Lassad midway through the first half, but local keeper Lux, stepping in for the first time this season for the injured Aranzubia, had to make a string of saves to keep his side in front. However with the game in the third minute of injury time substitute Manucho popped up to latch on to a loose ball and equalise. Earlier in the day Recreativo and Gimnàstic also shared the points in a 2-2 draw. Berrocal gave the locals an early lead, but a goal in each half by Alex Ortíz and Tuni turned the scoreline around. However Matamala made it all square again in injury time, and although Nàstic came away with a point which took them back off the bottom of the table, it was not enough to put them on track for safety.
