A great start for Abel Resino, a 2-1 victory over regional neighbours Málaga in the Monday night game giving the new Granada coach a second win in a row since he took over from Fabri two weeks ago. Results earlier in the weekend had left the Andalusians back in the bottom three, and they were up against difficult opponents who needed a win to get them back up to the European spots. The match got off to a lively start, Maresca shooting over the top, and Mikel Rico replying for the locals with a header which Caballero did well to keep out. Buonanotte had a penalty appeal turned down and Demichelis saw Julio César tip his header over the bar, and Martins kept Caballero on his toes with a couple of long shots either side of half time. With just under an hour on the clock Ighalo headed Granada in to the lead from a Mikel Rico cross, but Rondón equalised soon afterwards after Seba Fernández and Monreal combined to set him up. Iñigo López got the winner though with ten minutes to go after Caballero could only push out a long shot from Siqueira, and a frustrated Demichelis left Pellegrini's side with ten men for the last few minutes when he was sent off for a hard tackle on new signing Henrique.
