Real Madrid moved back to top spot in the table pending Levante's game on Sunday after a 0-1 victory at Real Sociedad on Saturday night. Higuaín picked up a through ball from Coentrão to score what was to prove the only goal in the ninth minute, and for the rest of the first half Madrid were on top, with Ramos, Ronaldo, Di María and Higuaín all coming up against keeper Claudio Bravo. After the restart the locals did create a couple of chances, in particular long shots from Carlos Vela and Griezmann which Casillas had to keep out, but Ramos could have increased the lead had he been able to turn in Di María's cross later on. A sixth game in a row without a win for the Basque side, who find themselves just a point above the relegation spots, although their form in the last two games suggests they have the talent to do better.
