Racing Santander are on the verge of escaping the relegation zone after a 1-0 victory over Betis on Sunday, a first win of the season for Héctor Cúper's side. The visitors had the better of the first half, with Pozuelo and Ustaritz hitting the bar and Beñat bringing a good save out of Toño. Adrián González tested Casto at the other end though, and Torrejón also hit the bar as the locals rallied close to half time. Cúper eventually turned to Stuani, and within minutes the striker made the difference, winning himself a penalty which he fired past Casto for what was to prove the only goal of the match. Jefferson Montero could have saved a point had he been able to beat Toño late on, but it was not to be, and Betis fall to their sixth defeat in a row.
