Neither Guadalajara nor Mirandés have played in the second division A, but both came in to their final with confidence after winning through the previous two rounds. In the end though Mirandés are the favourites to go up after a last minute 0-1 victory in a packed Pedro Escartín stadium. Neither side created too many chances, but with ten minutes to go the visitors were left with ten men when Borda picked up a second booking. Guadalajara threw everything forward, but keeper Wilfred held fast, and with a minute to go Pablo Infante picked up Alain's pass on a quick breakaway to give his side the advantage for next weekend's second leg.
Alcoyano have the edge in the other final after a 1-0 win over Lugo. Few people remember when either of these sides were last in the second division, but the team from the Valencia regional town of Alcoy have been close several times in recent years. With so much at stake chances were few and far between in the first half, but a few minutes after the restart Belforti headed a free kick past Maestro only for the strike to be ruled out for a borderline offside. A couple of minutes later though substitute Fabiani got on the end of a corner to score at the other end, and the home side held on for a valuable victory. (19.06.11)
