Sabadell and Murcia reserved their places in the second division for next season with wins in the group champions play-offs. Sabadell won through on the away goal rule, a 1-1 draw at Eibar on Saturday enough for them to return to the "silver" division after an 18 year absence. Marc Fernández got the vital away goal with an angled shot ten minutes in to the second half, but Lanzarote equalised a few minutes later after Navas saved from Altuna, and the Basque side came close to winning it in the end. Murcia made sure of a quick return after being relegated last year, the 2-0 win against Lugo in the first leg taking them through despite a 1-0 defeat on Sunday. Tornero gave the Galicians hope of turning things around with a strike early in the second half, but after Ballesteros had what would have been a last minute leveller turned down for a previous foul it was all over.
Eibar and Lugo still have a second chance though, and they go in to the second phase with six other clubs who won through the first knock-out stage. With all of the teams who finished fourth in their group eliminated, the two group champions will face third placed sides. Lugo have a difficult tie against Alavés, who are looking to return to the big time after a 1-0 win over North African enclave side Melilla. Oscar Martínez got the only goal from a Casares pass later on in the first half. Eibar's opponents will be Alcoyano, who knocked out Real Madrid's B side Castilla. The two goal advantage from the first leg took the East coast side through, despite a 2-2 draw on Sunday. Morata and Fran Rico twice gave the visitors the lead after the break, but two goals from Paco Esteban cancelled them out both times.
Cádiz will not be returning to the second division next season though after they lost 4-1 to Mirandés. Two down from the first leg, a brace from Alain either side of half time made it all square. With ten minutes to go an away goal from Pachón seemed to be enough for the Andalusians, but a Baquero own goal and an injury time strike from Mújika gave the locals a last minute victory. Mirandés will play Badalona in their semi-final after the Catalans beat Leganés 1-0. Vázquez headed the only goal from an Oscar Ramírez free kick with six minutes to go.
Guadalajara had virtually tied up their place in the next round with a 0-2 first leg victory over Orihuela, and they won through comfortably after drawing 1-1 in their return match. Javi Soria added to the lead with a quarter of an hour to go, and Garavano's late equaliser was still two goals short of what the visitors needed. Guadalajara will meet Sevilla's B side Sevilla Atlético, who beat Real Unión 3-0 on Saturday. All the goals came in the last few minutes with the Andalusians down to ten men after Rodri had been sent off, Deivid, Luis Alberto and Morales the scorers.
Benidorm were relegated down to the regional third division together with Caudal after losing their respective play-offs. Benidorm lost 3-1 to Betis B, a goal in each half from Carlos Fernández and a late strike by Bernal saving the Andalusians despite a first half equaliser by Luis. And Caudal went down 3-2 on aggregate to Conquense, a 2-1 result in the second leg not enough to save the Asturians. (29.05.11)
