Valladolid are out of the bottom three on a four-way head-to-head basis after coming from behind to beat fellow strugglers Racing Santander 2-1! With a visit to the Nou Camp looming on the last day, this was a must-win match for Javier Clemente's team against a direct rival to avoid relegation. But with just under half an hour on the clock Christian headed the visitors in to the lead from a Canales corner.
Long shots from Diego Costa and Borja close to half time came to nothing, but ten minutes after the restart Javi Baraja got on the end of a Sesma corner to equalise. And twenty minutes later Moratón tripped Costa as he advanced in to the area, and Nauzet stepped up to convert the resulting penalty.
Christian got the ball in the net a few minutes after that with an overhead kick, only for the strike to be ruled out for the positional offside of a colleague. And as nerves frayed, Borja and Moratón were both sent off for second bookable offences. Valladolid had done enough to move level with their opponents in the table though, and everything will now go down to that last day.
