Pandiani got on the end of a Camuñas cross to give Camacho's side an early lead, but Caicedo equalised after Ricardo and Josetxo failed to clear Baha's centre. Pandiani put the locals back in front with his second of the evening after Iván González could only head Aranda's cross to him, but once again Baha levelled the scores, beating Ricardo at the second attempt after the keeper blocked his header from Duda's long ball.
Both sides ended with ten men after Iván González and then Sergio were shown red cards, the first for a hard tackle on Jorge Galán, and the second for slapping Orozco, who the defender claimed had been provoking him throughout the game. The result meant a valuable point for Málaga, although with the bottom three all winning they are once again only three points above the relegation places.
